One of two BBQ specific chains in the area (the other being Logan's Roadhouse) - their specialty is corn bread, and apparently Jalepeños too...but if you want something saucy rather than smoked then choose Famous Dave's. Cute themeing, ok service, decent meats - yummy pecan pie. :-)

Salsa's Restaurant
This restaurant replaced Don Pedro's on Day road between Grape and Main. The restaurant is themed, the appetizers are around $7, and entrees are anywhere from $8 to $12 for some combination dinners. Serving homemade chips, salsa, and ranch with jalepeños tides you over til your meal arrives...which if it's not crowded, is less than five minutes from when you ordered. Everything is fresh and homemade and the rice even has corn and peppers. I would have perferred my chimichanga deep fried, but soft and layered in cheese was a great new experience for my taste buds, as well. Michael got the flag enchiladas, beef cheese and chicken with red white and green sauce, delish! The beans were a little salty for my taste, and Michael said the enchiladas a little plain without the sauce...but all in all a good sized meal, big, but not too big to not be able to enjoy a little dessert. Fried ice cream, fried cheesecake, and chocolate cake just to name a few. Overall a good semi-authentic "Mexican" meal for around $15 a person, not including drinks or dessert. I wasn't 100% impressed with the service, but then again I'm a customer service snob...we weren't treated badly, but then again we also weren't given as much attention as the family beside us. All in all I'm for supporting local businesses...and as tempting as Salsa's Dessert cart full of ten different cheesecakes and other sweet desserts, I think I'll still drive across town to Taste of Mexico for my authentic "Mexican" food cravings to be satisfied.

Michael's Birthday
Michael's birthday was a fairly quiet one, especially since I have the flu. We both went to work and enjoyed a nice dinner at Carrabba's, an Italian restaurant chain in 27 states (thanks Wikipedia) that my parent's gave Michael for his birthday (Glad I get to benefit from it, too! YUM!).
