Three days ago (technically four, since it's 6 am) - I met a family who was bringing their grandchildren to Disneyland, a husband and wife, their son and daughter, and their daughter's two children. Three boys, three girls, all ages. The son, about thirty five years old, only had a right arm.
I met this family at Ariel's bridge and ran into them at Cars and again at the view. Every time I met them they made me smile, they even told the front gate that they knew me and thought that the front gate called me to make sure that they got through the gate alright.
They make me smile. :)
A blog of my life, my ramblings, my imperfections, my revelations. A blog of the random me.

August 18
As I reflect back, I realize I am three days from halfway through my internship and I am just now getting around to writing about the beginning of my internship.
On August 18th at 8 am, there was a very long line in front of Carnegie Plaza full of parents, family, friends, and college program students (later to be more fondly known as "CPs"). We filled out paperwork, more paperwork, and then more paperwork, and receiving tons of literature to read, as well.
When I moved into apartment 420, there was only one person who was there before me, though she wasn't in the room. I plopped my stuff down in the bed next to hers (of course I was going to take the double bedroom with the bathroom inside), which left the triple with the bunk and windows for walls left to be occupied. As we worked through the chaos known as 250 people (plus their trust siblings, friends, and parents) moving into an apartment building with no units on the ground level and only two elevators and two flights of stairs, we eventually got a full house. Tricia, from Texas, rooming with me, while Jena from Cal Poly and Erin & Nickole (best friends since kindergarten) from Napa, occupied the triple.
After getting as settled in as we could for the day, we set out for food (at around 11 pm)...we discovered that right by our apartment building was an Indian restaurant, an Italian restaurant, a doughnut shop, a Starbucks, a Subway, a Vons, a nail salon, a CVS, a burger king, a Japanese restaurant, a Filipino restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a flatbread sandwich & pizza place, a frozen yogurt place, a fed ex kinkos, and a teriyaki bowl restaurant called flamebroiler all right next to our apartment....and we also have a weekly local craft fair and farmers market every Thursday...so basically, we discovered we have a lot of options.
It was the beginning of an adventurous journey...

CHOC walk 2010

My family and I got up to walk the 2010 CHOC (children's hospital of orange county) walk in the park after a night full of stories and heart to hearts in the hotel room. Disney matched $25 to our donations, and CHOC is near and dear to my heart because they took care of my brother when he was younger. There were fireworks and characters and so much fun. After the walk we went to company D and ate at Panera at the Village at Orange. CHOC was an awesome experience, but I think it will all be best experienced through pictures.

Walking to the walk and it isn't even light out yet.

Resort Packages
The Boys
Fries
Beyond
and probably more from today and beyond...

CHOC Walk, Aladdin, and Work, Oh My.
I woke up this morning and text Bre to go with me to Irvine, because even though the CHOC walk is in Disneyland, early check-in is in Irvine. Bre and I got ready to go and then discovered that check-in didn't start until 11, and Bre had work at 11:30 so we decided not to go.
Matt and I then decided to go see Aladdin the musical, but we wanted to see my friends of Aladdin and Jasmine at the Oasis and watch Billy Hill and the Hillbillies before my interview with James-Ryan.
Matt and I dashed to K-Lot and to the Oasis, but sadly Aladdin and Jasmine had already left the Oasis and were headed to the show in California Adventure, so we did too. We sat in the orchestra seating and watched as amazing show, we didn't realize how long the show would be so we headed backstage and I headed to my interview with James-Ryan.
As I talked with James-Ryan about the ELP and being on TSA, he said a lot of wonderful, insightful, and helpful things, but the question he posed to me that really sticks in my mind is, "What is the difference between a leader and a manager?" I do believe they are different, but now I must try and distinguish the difference.
After the interview, I worked view for about 7 hours. I tried to make magical moments with guests, helping them get the best pictures possible and the best deals possible, and having a fun time in the process. I worked with two vets, Stacey and Ben, which was fun because they taught me a lot of tricks.
While I was working fulfillment and putting prints into packages, a guest yelled at me, saying that I was ignoring her and that I should say that it would be just a moment before I would help them, claiming that I was being very rude. At the moment the guest had done this, I was asking Stacey a question, and Stacey just put her hand up and said to the guest, "Ma'am, we'll be with you after we are done helping the guests before you." I had to leave on break and when I came back, Ben would not stop teasing me to tell guests that the three of us will be with them after we are done helping the guests we are with.
After work, Erin and I were starved so we headed to In-n-Out but the line was so long we settled for Taco Bell...most amazing six layer burrito that I remember having because I was so hungry! Now it's time for bed because Bre and I have to leave for work at 6:45...meaning I have to be up in about 5 hours, oh yay!
Besides being called rude, today was an excellent day off and on work. ElecTRONica looks awesome, and I can't wait for the cast show on Monday. I think it's awesome that I can hear World of Color from the cast shuttle. I think it's awesome that I can go watch Aladdin the musical and then go into work all at the same place. I love, love, love my job.

Mom's Birthday - "September 25"

Haunted Mansion Holiday
Haunted Mansion Holiday replaces fright with excitement for those who love the classic "Nightmare Before Christmas" movie. The scariest moments of Haunted Mansion Holiday? Jack's giant head appearing atop the pitch black extended room and the holiday haunts that pop up behind the graves. If you are a frequent Haunted Mansion rider, you are more used to the various things popping in and out, but the creativity and detail put into Haunted Mansion immerses you into the movie, starting with Jack as Sandy Claws
atop the gate of Haunted Mansion to the list and decorations outside the mansion, and the amazing transformation inside. If you are lucky, you are able to catch Sally and Jack outside the mansion for a picture and a signature, or two. Not meant to be a fright, but rather an immersion into a movie, such as the rides of Fantasyland, Haunted Mansion Holiday is a delight for those who love the movie, and a cute little scare for those who are unaware.
Final Review: This ride is fun, but I wouldn't wait more than ten-fifteen minutes for it, unless I was in a group that it was fun to wait in line with.
Recommendations: Get a fast pass when it's a busy day in the park, this fast pass is a good one.

August 17
Due to the fact that this blog started late, I have entries for days that were before I started my blog, starting with this one.
Of course, with any new job, or any new endeavor in life, comes change.
I was changing zip codes, I changed my number, my address, bought new clothes, donated clothes, bought new stuff for my apartment, and left stuff behind at home. I had to get adjusted to the working life, away from Indiana, and Chicago, and Michael and Twix, and yet another adjustment away from home and having little responsibility but getting myself prepped to living with four other girls in an apartment while going to work and school full time. However, working for Disney, there was one more thing I needed to change...my highlighted hair...so once we came down to the O.C. we headed for the mall and I got "new hair." Thing was, it isn't my natural hair color, of course, but it was jet black...something I've never EVER had before.
Of course, with any new job, or any new endeavor in life, comes change.
